Interview With Boston's Own Lyric Lou

Nas claims "hip hop is dead" do you think it's still dead in 2014?

Lyric Lou- won't say it's dead it's alive in some ways but that's just based off my hip hop knowledge that I already know and the most influential rappers of Jcole and Drake. Drake is what kinda made me start rapping and I would say more of the words but the generation we live in people get love trap music which could be good in some ways but not long lasting that's why I don't really listing to it

Who is the most influential artist now?
Lyric Lou- Drake is what kinda made me start rapping i was 13 years old and was flipping through the channel on the TV in me and my brothers room then I stop it was bet and drake was performing and after he was talking bout some of his life during the moment I was writing a poem to and I told my brother I could sound like drake so instead of reading my poem I had I tried to rap and my brother was like you good bro them I took it as yo I could be a rapper one day lol nah that's lame but later on in the same day I turn I poem I had into a rap and really over time Started to grow attached to rapping making my own music and right before watching drake I had just got through crying/ whining to my mom because I played football at the time and she couldn't afford it no more and I was in love with football but after a while I lost love for it then all of a sudden I started to fall in love with making my own music plus I already wrote poetry. My Mom use to write poetry and she use to Rap to but didn't really catch my attention as a little boy I mean in the beginning when I started my mom was for it but as time went on I felt like she didn't believe in me no more and and she wanted me to pay more attention in school instead of music.

Why did you start making music? Who was your inspiration? Where your parents for or against it?…
Lyric Lou- Well lyriclou is a young dude that was raised in Boston most of his life up in till age 14 and moved to ATL as I was down there I became more serious about rapping started recording in my mom's room off her 2000 computer lol but yea then I had family issues with my mother so I decided to move in with my aunt back in Boston new school new everything meet new people I told everyone I rap then I went to a actual recording studio and did a freestyle I loved it so much at the time I put it on a CD but time went on and sadly I had to move back with my mother in Atlanta because I got into a situation with my aunt and couldn't live there no more so I moved back to Atlanta and now at this time everything is cool but my mom was getting annoyed because my little brother Jordan Brantley keep getting locked up and and in and out of jail then all of a sudden my mother got a boyfriend I really never liked him the more attention he got the least attention my mom payed me and my brothers but she still loved us no matter what then after getting into a couple of arguments with my mother's boyfriend and her I decided to leave so then I moved back to Boston for the last time and moved in with my grandmother on my father's side it was difficult for me though new rules new habits I had to learn.

What artists in hip hop do you like? Why?
Lyric Lou- Drake is the most realist dude out there I know and coming up watching degrassi and was like I got to see drake grow as a artist and look over where he came from but yea he caught my attention as a young boy and keep it real then and he still does I just love his music.

Tell us who is lyric Lou and how did u get the name
Lyric Lou- My name wasn't always Lyric Lou growing up in to my rapping stages I had a older cousin named Jason Jordan and he did music and was involved with a music group called hitmakerz and one day he was rapping and I was like "hey big Cuz  I made a rap" and he was like let me here it . so I let him hear it then he  was AYE MY YOUNG BOY YOUNG LOU then from there and on I called my self young Lou but as time went on I decided to change it to kiddlou i don't know why, I just did i knew it would be cool .Then I was tired of that name and knowing I was gonna grow up one day I didn't want the KIDD PART of my rapping name no more so I was think in class in my senior year of high school and was like (Verse UN-fixable like a loose tooth Sleepy IN This Class Wish It Was in a Rap Booth So I Can Spit What I Write And people say LYRICLOU) Then I thought to my self lyriclou lyriclou lyriclou OH Shit that's gonna be my new rap name that's how I got my name.

Greatest advice ever given to you?
Lyric Lou- Greatest advise given to me would have to be from my mom yea you can rap and get a music deal and be famous and have money but what if all of it was gone and you didn't have no type of education what would I do that's why my mother has always been more concerned about my school work rather then music.

How did the process of bad boys club come about what made you join the cast?
Lyric Lou- After living with my father's mother for about 6 mouth I linked up with a old friend of my Dewayne Rogers and I knew him from middle school and he told me a bout a show called bad boys club I thought it's was cool so I decided to make a audition video I send it and the next week got accepted then I really started trying out be filmed on camera and honestly I didn't have nothing to do at the time so I just thought it would be cool.

Tell everyone what's next for lyric lou??
Lyric Lou- But yea through all of with I been through Lyric Lou never got to distracted for his music what's next for Lyric Lou I mean I'm soon to put a single out before the end of summer and a music video hopefully and yes Lyric Lou is going to college for what I will have to say being on bad boys club inspired me to go to school to be a video director after college hopefully I get a music deal If not I plan on taking acting classes and try to be a actor one day. One thing lyriclou has learned is don't make a mistake after making a mistake and live your life the way you plan it.
