Interview With Boston's Own Lyric Lou

Nas claims "hip hop is dead" do you think it's still dead in 2014?

Lyric Lou- won't say it's dead it's alive in some ways but that's just based off my hip hop knowledge that I already know and the most influential rappers of Jcole and Drake. Drake is what kinda made me start rapping and I would say more of the words but the generation we live in people get love trap music which could be good in some ways but not long lasting that's why I don't really listing to it

Who is the most influential artist now?
Lyric Lou- Drake is what kinda made me start rapping i was 13 years old and was flipping through the channel on the TV in me and my brothers room then I stop it was bet and drake was performing and after he was talking bout some of his life during the moment I was writing a poem to and I told my brother I could sound like drake so instead of reading my poem I had I tried to rap and my brother was like you good bro them I took it as yo I could be a rapper one day lol nah that's lame but later on in the same day I turn I poem I had into a rap and really over time Started to grow attached to rapping making my own music and right before watching drake I had just got through crying/ whining to my mom because I played football at the time and she couldn't afford it no more and I was in love with football but after a while I lost love for it then all of a sudden I started to fall in love with making my own music plus I already wrote poetry. My Mom use to write poetry and she use to Rap to but didn't really catch my attention as a little boy I mean in the beginning when I started my mom was for it but as time went on I felt like she didn't believe in me no more and and she wanted me to pay more attention in school instead of music.

Why did you start making music? Who was your inspiration? Where your parents for or against it?…
Lyric Lou- Well lyriclou is a young dude that was raised in Boston most of his life up in till age 14 and moved to ATL as I was down there I became more serious about rapping started recording in my mom's room off her 2000 computer lol but yea then I had family issues with my mother so I decided to move in with my aunt back in Boston new school new everything meet new people I told everyone I rap then I went to a actual recording studio and did a freestyle I loved it so much at the time I put it on a CD but time went on and sadly I had to move back with my mother in Atlanta because I got into a situation with my aunt and couldn't live there no more so I moved back to Atlanta and now at this time everything is cool but my mom was getting annoyed because my little brother Jordan Brantley keep getting locked up and and in and out of jail then all of a sudden my mother got a boyfriend I really never liked him the more attention he got the least attention my mom payed me and my brothers but she still loved us no matter what then after getting into a couple of arguments with my mother's boyfriend and her I decided to leave so then I moved back to Boston for the last time and moved in with my grandmother on my father's side it was difficult for me though new rules new habits I had to learn.

What artists in hip hop do you like? Why?
Lyric Lou- Drake is the most realist dude out there I know and coming up watching degrassi and was like I got to see drake grow as a artist and look over where he came from but yea he caught my attention as a young boy and keep it real then and he still does I just love his music.

Tell us who is lyric Lou and how did u get the name
Lyric Lou- My name wasn't always Lyric Lou growing up in to my rapping stages I had a older cousin named Jason Jordan and he did music and was involved with a music group called hitmakerz and one day he was rapping and I was like "hey big Cuz  I made a rap" and he was like let me here it . so I let him hear it then he  was AYE MY YOUNG BOY YOUNG LOU then from there and on I called my self young Lou but as time went on I decided to change it to kiddlou i don't know why, I just did i knew it would be cool .Then I was tired of that name and knowing I was gonna grow up one day I didn't want the KIDD PART of my rapping name no more so I was think in class in my senior year of high school and was like (Verse UN-fixable like a loose tooth Sleepy IN This Class Wish It Was in a Rap Booth So I Can Spit What I Write And people say LYRICLOU) Then I thought to my self lyriclou lyriclou lyriclou OH Shit that's gonna be my new rap name that's how I got my name.

Greatest advice ever given to you?
Lyric Lou- Greatest advise given to me would have to be from my mom yea you can rap and get a music deal and be famous and have money but what if all of it was gone and you didn't have no type of education what would I do that's why my mother has always been more concerned about my school work rather then music.

How did the process of bad boys club come about what made you join the cast?
Lyric Lou- After living with my father's mother for about 6 mouth I linked up with a old friend of my Dewayne Rogers and I knew him from middle school and he told me a bout a show called bad boys club I thought it's was cool so I decided to make a audition video I send it and the next week got accepted then I really started trying out be filmed on camera and honestly I didn't have nothing to do at the time so I just thought it would be cool.

Tell everyone what's next for lyric lou??
Lyric Lou- But yea through all of with I been through Lyric Lou never got to distracted for his music what's next for Lyric Lou I mean I'm soon to put a single out before the end of summer and a music video hopefully and yes Lyric Lou is going to college for what I will have to say being on bad boys club inspired me to go to school to be a video director after college hopefully I get a music deal If not I plan on taking acting classes and try to be a actor one day. One thing lyriclou has learned is don't make a mistake after making a mistake and live your life the way you plan it.

Lenny Harold Interview pt 2

1. Hello Lenny welcome back for Part 2 of the interview how are you and how have things been going?

Lenny- I'm good thanks. All has been crazy but a good crazy. Hope all has been well with
you.

2. What's an average day like on tour?

Lenny-An average day on tour is arriving to the venue, sound checking, doing interviews,
viewing and settling in our dressing room and most importantly finding out what's up
with the young food situation lol! And then of course getting mentally ready to
murder the stage.

3. Will you ever do song covers on YouTube? I know your fans would love to see
that happen.

Lenny-I did a few covers a while back. They're still on youtube somewhere. It's funny
cause I've been thinking about doing it again for fun.

4. What makes a good session for Lenny Harold? Describe to us what happens
with you in the studio.

Lenny-Well a good session is when the lyrics flow naturally and the energy in the room is
good. A great session is when everything flows from some place heavenly. Energy,
music and lyrics…even down to recording. Just recently I was in the studio and
this song flowed out of no where so beautifully that me and the producer, Cass,
was like this right here, is gonna be insane. The melody, the lyrics, the music just
all connected. It's gotta be a magical feeling, you know?

5. Boxers or Briefs?

Lenny-What?! Lol! Boxer briefs when I'm wearing underwear, uh oh! Lol!!

6. Do you censor yourself? Have you ever written anything and then said, new
that's was too harsh?

Lenny-I do censor myself sometimes. It all depends on the song. Sometimes somethings
can be do much. I've never written anything that was harsh, just too much. It has to
make sense to the story you're writing. You have to respect the song, it has it's
own identity.

7. Any musician, living or dead, who would be in your dream band?

Lenny-Hmmm, who would be in my dream band?? I would have to say Slash or Jimmy Hendricks. Even though they're artist themselves would love to work with them.

8. When making love socks on or off?

Lenny-Yo, these questions though, lol! It all depends, I mean sometimes you don't even
care to take off socks. Most of the time, off though lol

9. When can we get a new Lenny Harold album, EP or single? The fans want that
from you?

Lenny-I'm working on some things as we speak. Hopefully soon. Don't want to put a date
on anything yet, but what I've been working on is dope!!

10. What Artist are you listening too lately?

Lenny-I've been listening to Kelela a lot!! Her music is so dope, her melodies, her writing
and her voice I love. The production is insane.

11. What five songs that you ever did that you are the most of proud of?

Lenny-Awesome question. Uhm, it would be "Tears For The Ghetto" produced by
Armando Colon, "I Did It" produced by CalQulated Music,"Gold" produced by A-natural,"Love At The End" produced by Cass and "Wild West" produced by
Cass….damn I'd also have to say "Into the Gray" produced by Cass. I know
there's some material that hasn't been heard that's on this list. Just know those
songs are meaningful and/or really creative!

12. Lenny Harold(The artist) Vs Lenny Harold (The person)?

Lenny-They're the same morally but Lenny the person is shy as Lenny the artist is hella
outgoing and more fun. They come out when needed. They have other names
though lol

13. Is there any male/female singers you personally know that you would love to
collab with? If so, who?

Lenny-I'd love to collab with Ro James, Antonique and Word Spit. If you don't know these
artist, PLEASE look them up!! They're crazy dope!

14. For our readers who have never heard your music, explain your sound in 5
words.

Lenny-Experience the Journal of Wonders.

15. You write all of your own music; where do you draw inspiration from when you
write songs and what’s your favorite part about that process?

Lenny-Yeah, 95% of what you hear I write. I love to collab with other writers but I have to
connect with them. It can't be the coming together to try and make a hit. It has to be
coming together in respect for the music first and then the feeling afterwards.
Favorite part of the process is when you record it and the story is painted and
ready to be viewed by the audience.

16. Will there be a video for "I Did It"?

Lenny-Yes, there will be. Been having trouble finding the right location for one particular
scene.

17. What motto do you live by day by day?

Lenny-"The way to move out of judgment is to move in to gratitude," it's even tatted on my
arm.

18. Would you ever do reality TV?

Lenny-No. I don't like how you become a character based off your own life. I'll do a guest
spot but nothing just on me.

19. What do you think about the state of music and the music industry today?

Lenny-I think it's finally changing. I love that genres are so meshed together that music is
starting to become just what it is, MUSIC. I love that r&b is being respected again
and I love that song writing has gained a little more depth. There's a creative that
doesn't give a fuck and just makes music. I LOVE that!

20. Some advice to people who want to follow your path. What are three things you
should never do in this business?

Lenny-Never burn bridges, you never know who you'll need later in life. Don't think you
know it all, everything is a learning experience. Never just sign a contract without
having a proper lawyer look over it.

21. A relax day in the house, when u have time, what does that consistent of?

Lenny-Doing absolutely nothing. Laying in bed watching movies. It's what life is all about
lol!

My Night At Sob's

Feb 19th 2014 i took a trip to my favorite city to Sob's to support and meet for the first time Sonyae Elise. Ok when i got there they had this guy name Lenny Harold open and to be honest i just wanted to see Sonyae kill it but when i tell you i really was blown away by the talent Lenny had and his music and voice made me pay attention RnB music is everything to me and when he open his mouth to sing i was surprised because again i was only there to see Sonyae Elise.

Than Sonyae was next i was so happy to see her finally kill it live and i been a big fan of her since the Bravo tv show "Platinum hit" she is a beast when it comes to this music with her vocals and Pen i love her so much and was so happy to meet her

Than i was mad because i am from Philadelphia and the next performer named Gogo Morrow goes up and she killed it too she has the best stage presence ever she owned that stage and i felt bad i never knew of her music til this day and she won me over i would love to see her live once again

Interview with "Lenny Harold"

1. When did you first start singing?
I first started singing around six years old,  but I hated it because of my high voice. When it truly hit me as my favorite form of expression was around fourteen after witnessing Brandy on the Apollo.

2. What did your family do to encourage you?
My mother made sure I had every outlet to build and cultivate my talents. She put me in a performing arts school where I went through vocal coaching, dance, acting and media training. She also found studios for me to develop my recording and song writing. Not to mention the undying love and support from my family.

3. If you could dabble in another genre of music, what would it be?
It would definitely be rock/alternative music. Guitars set me off and excite me. I have actually dabbled a bit in past recordings. That haven't really been shared.  Lol

4. What embarrassing songs might I find on your MP3 player?
Haha, I have no embarrassing songs on my iPod. Everything has value to me at least what I listen too.

5. If you weren't singing, what would you be doing?
I would definitely be doing artist development. I love cultivating new artist and pushing them to the next level. Someone took time to develop me and still are. I feel these tools are sincerely missing from the music industry.

6.Who are your musical inspirations
The list is crazy long but right off the dome it's Prince, Brandy, Jill Scott, Kanye West, Bootsy, Cee-Lo Green, Erykah Badu, Bilal, Beyonce, Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, Amy Winehouse, Bjork, Incubus, Korn, M.I.A., Shakira I mean I could go on and on.

7. Who would you most like to open for?
Hmmm, Beyonce would be dope. Kanye West as well. It would have been Michael but unfortunately.

8. best advice ever given?
The best advice was something Teddy Riley said during a music discussion we had in the studio. He said, "It doesn't matter how well you sing, it matters how you look doing it"
That shit stayed with me.

9. what else can we expect from you in the future
Timeless music, great stage shows and THE JOURNAL OF WONDERS movement.
AND OF COURSE BS2 (2nd generation of Blackstreet)
Follow @Bs2_Official on every social media.. The movement begins!
